- A type of pistol or Airsoft rifle that is powered by gas and has a slide or bolt that kicks backwards as a shot is being fired before returning to its original position. On airsoft guns, the blowback feature replicates the recoil/slide action of their real counterparts.

- Airsoft is primarily a recreational activity with replica firearms that shoot plastic BBs that are often used for personal collection, gaming (similar to paintball), or professional training purposes (military simulations, a.k.a. MilSim, and police training exercises).
